Citizen Holdings Co. Announces Acquisition of Frédérique Constant
Japanese watch manufacture Citizen has announced the purchase of the Frédérique Constant Group, a Swiss luxury watch manufacture founded in 1988. The acquisition also includes the Alpina and Ateliers de Monaco brands that were underneath the Frédérique Constant umbrella. Citizen Watch Company’s CEO Toshio Tokura said in a statement, “we have a great opportunity to expand the sales of Frederique Constant through our current distribution channels of Citizen branded watches, particularly in Japan and the U.S.”
Vacheron Constantin Marks Launch of Overseas Collection with NYC event
The world’s oldest Haute Horlogerie manufacture, Vacheron Constantin, celebrated the world wide release of the new Overseas collection with an exclusive event on The High Line in Manhattan’s stylish Chelsea neighborhood. Over 200 VIP’s attended the event on Wednesday, May 25th that concluded with a performance from the Grammy award-winning band, A Great Big World.
Audemars Piguet Opens Interim New York City Boutique
While the Manhattan flagship of the Audemars Piguet brand has begun an extensive three-month renovation, the legendary Swiss watch manufacture has opened a temporary location on 57th Street. The 1,500-square-foot space incorporates the brand’s 2015 Art Basel booth designed by French artist Mathieu Lehanneur showcasing trompe l’oeil replicas of rocks found at the Audemars home base in the Vallée de Joux. The boutique will be open until August 15, 2016.
Speake-Marin to Join SIHH 2017
The annual Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie continues to grow its stable of brands with the addition of Swiss-based manufacture, Speake-Marin, founded in 2002 by English watchmaker Peter Speake-Marin. Just last week SIHH announced the return of Swiss manufacture Girard-Perregaux for 2017.
