New York-based Harry Winston has released its latest boy toy in its Project Z line, intended to be tech forward and sporty. The technical agenda is advanced in several ways. Project Z9 is made with the company’s proprietary alloy of aluminum and zirconium, Zalium, purported to be hypoal- lergenic and ultralight and resulting in a dark gray shade. The watch is the first in the Z line to have a high frequency of 5 hertz; silicon (known to be durable) is enlisted for the caliber’s balance spring.
Key to the watch’s aesthetic is a pair of opposing chrono- graph counters, outlined in blue paint at the left and right sides of the dial. The watch’s hands and index markings will shine at night as a result of their blue Super-LumiNova treatment. And the background behind the date display changes color, from day to night.
The watch band of black rubber, textured with a Clou de Paris pattern, adds a sporty edge. This mechanical watch comes with a 50-hour power reserve in a limited-edition offering of 300.
