Part two of the Zurich City Guide, featuring insider recommendations from industry leaders.

“Check out Hiltl, a vegetarian restaurant that has been open since 1889—no that’s not a mistake! This restaurant proves that vegetarian food is delicious and versatile enough to be enjoyed by meat lovers. Zurich is a treasure trove of galleries and museums. I recommend the galleries Annex 14 and Grieder Contemporary. The Museum für Gestaltung, inside an original Bauhaus building from the 1930s, has an excellent collection of Swiss graphic design. Then there is the Museum Rietberg, a villa located in a stunning park with views of the lake and alps. It’s where the composer Richard Wagner sweetly talked to the wife of his host, Mr. Wesendonck, and where the famous Wesendonck songs were composed.”

“On the weekends, I love to take my children to the flower and vegetable market at Bürkliplatz. We do our shopping for the week, and it has the nicest view of the lake and mountains. It’s a great place to relax when coupled with a coffee from Schwarzenbach. No weekend is complete without stopping into some of the great shops Zurich has to offer, the nicest ones being in Bahnhofstrasse. Of course we always stop by IWC’s boutique and En Soie, which has a wonderful collection of accessories and small trinkets for the home. For fashion, Fidelio is the perfect place to pick out a piece whether it’s weekend wear or perhaps something a little fancier.”
