True to its name, the Tonda 1950 Galaxy is fashioned to look like the night sky in Parmigiani Fleurier’s home in Switzerland’s Val-De-Travers district. This replica dial was achieved through aventurine glass–a material accidentally discovered by an 18th-century Murano glassblower after he dropped a sliver of copper into melted glass. Evoking a galaxy of stars, the copper particles lend a delicate sparkle to the dial, which is framed by a rose gold, diamond-set case. Visible through the sapphire caseback, the self-winding mechanical movement is finished with beveled bridges and decorated with jewels. A black Hermes alligator band completes the special edition Tonda 1950 Galaxy watch.
